Mt. Prospect Historical Society holds tool auction

Tickets are now on sale for the "Totally Tools" auction of vintage and new tools at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27, in the Saint Paul Lutheran School gymnasium, 18 S. School St., Mount Prospect.

The auction, along with a tasting of local craft beers and a barbecue sampling, is sponsored by the Mount Prospect Historical Society. Proceeds will help with the restoration of the 1896 Central School.

"Some fascinating old tools have been donated, which collectors won't want to miss," said Chad Busse, chairman of the auction. "They range from a hand plow used in gardening to hand drills, scythes, planes and even a snow rake that was used to clear snow from roofs.

"Of course, we also have some wonderful new and gently-used tools for those who have a new home or need to supplement the tools they already have."

Those who love to collect interesting tools from the past, as well as those who are in the market for other tools, can go by the museum at 101 S. Maple St. or online to www.mtphist.org to make a $10 per person reservation. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

The evening will feature tools sold via a live auction, as well as at cash and carry tables. Tool aficionado Laura Luteri will be the auctioneer.

Attendees will also be invited to taste craft beers from Only Child Brewing Company in Gurnee, as well as have a taste of barbecue sandwiches from T-Bob's Smoked Bar-B-Q in Des Plaines.

Event sponsors are the Illinois Barbeque Society, T-Bob's, Robert Bosch Tool Corp., Only Child Brewing and Busse Automotive.
