Wauconda man killed in crash on Fox River bridge
A 52-year-old Wauconda man was killed Saturday night in a one-vehicle rollover crash on the Route 176 bridge over the Fox River near Island Lake, officials said.
Scott M. Madda was pronounced dead at the scene by responding fire and rescue workers, according to a statement from McHenry County Coroner Dr. Anne Majewski.
Authorities said the crash occurred about 7:38 p.m. Saturday on the bridge just east of Nish Road. Police shut down the bridge and nearby roads for several hours Saturday while crews cleared the scene. By 11:30 p.m., the area was reopened to traffic.
McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Aimee Knop said Saturday the crash investigation is in its "preliminary stages."
An autopsy and toxicology testing will be performed Monday, according to Majewski.
