Pet parade in Palatine celebrates Hawks win

A Closer Bond Dog Training Inc., 842 W. Northwest Highway, hosted a unique celebration of the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup win by organizing a Pet Parade. Nearly two dozen dogs - many wearing Hawks gear - gathered together on June 18 at the Palatine business.

Owner and founder Katy Cushing said the parade was created to celebrate the Hawks win, but also to continue efforts to bring dog owners together to continue to build a community.

"For those living in Palatine and the surrounding areas, who own a dog and think of him or her as part of their family, we provide monthly events that really do create a community of people, and helps these families to enjoy some fun with their pets and other area residents," Cushing said.

The business, which opened its doors 27 years ago, provides doggy day care, boarding, grooming and training that fits a variety of budgets.

"We are here to help families with dogs get even more out of the relationship they are building with their pets, through training and the other services we provide," Cushing said. "We're also excited to announce that we will be opening a second training location here in Palatine, details will be coming soon!"
