Bloomingdale man faces burglary charge

One of two brothers who were convicted of a 2013 robbery spree that targeted businesses in Bloomingdale, Glendale Heights, West Chicago and Wood Dale is back behind bars.

Frankie Panoski, 19, of 221 Oakwood Lane, Bloomingdale, is being held in DuPage County jail on charges of burglary, attempted residential burglary and criminal damage to property.

Bloomingdale police Chief Frank Giammarese said officers arrested Panoski on a warrant this week after tying evidence at two local crime scenes to him.

According to court records, Panoski is alleged to have cut a 24-inch hole in a kitchen window screen around 1:47 a.m. on May 12 at a house on the 100 block of Warren Avenue, but was scared off when homeowners responded to the noise.

At 1:30 p.m. that same day, Bloomingdale officers found a rear sliding glass door was shattered while investigating a burglary to a house on the 100 block of Glen Ellyn Road.

Giammarese said Panoski cut himself in the process and left evidence at the scene.

Panoski was sentenced in November, 2014, to 180 days in jail and 30 months of probation after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary in the 2013 spree of 15 robberies.

Panoski and his brother, Nicholas Panoski, stole more than $3,000 during those robberies, which authorities said they spent on 400 bottles of sports drinks.

"This is another sad case of a defendant not learning his lesson the first time around," Giammarese said. "But our officers did a great job putting this case together so he's going away this time."

Nicholas Panoski was sentenced in October, 2014, to four years in prison, followed by four years of probation.

Frankie Panoski's next court date on the new charges is scheduled for 9 a.m. on July 13 before Judge Robert Kleeman.
