Pedestrian struck, killed in Crystal Lake
Crystal Lake police are investigating the death of a male pedestrian who was struck Tuesday morning crossing Route 31.
Crystal Lake police said the pedestrian who was hit as he crossed Route 31 just north of the intersection with Route 176 at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a news release by the McHenry County coroner's office, the identity of the pedestrian will not be released until his next of kin are notified. The man was rushed to Centegra Medical Center in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m.
A Crystal Lake police official said Tuesday night the department would not comment beyond what was in the release.
An autopsy was performed in Tuesday morning.
