Schaumburg board approves new and expanded restaurants

A new Portuguese-style restaurant will soon open in a strip shopping center in Schaumburg, while two existing restaurants in the village will undergo major expansions.

Schaumburg trustees Tuesday approved Fogo's Peri Peri move into a vacant 1,920-square-foot space at 927 S. Roselle Road, in the Kingsport Plaza Shopping Center.

The restaurant owners told village officials they will specialize in a variety of chicken dishes and other healthy meals free of MSG, gluten and nuts.

A study was presented to demonstrate that parking will be adequate for the new restaurant, despite the entire center having 10 fewer spaces than normally required for its size and variety of tenants.

Also receiving approvals Tuesday were planned expansions of Bacowka Restaurant at 1120 S. Roselle Road in the Schaumburg Town Center Shopping Center, and Dakshin Indian Cuisine at 1135 N. Salem Drive in Salem Plaza.

Bacowka Restaurant will double its seating capacity from 32 to 64 with a 2,540-square-foot expansion that will include a bar area, additional tables and an additional restroom. The current number of parking spaces at the center was deemed adequate for the expansion.

Dakshin Indian Cuisine plans to double its entire floor area from 1,400 to 2,800 square feet at the southeast corner of Salem and Golf roads. Village staffers determined that there was enough parking for the business to accommodate the expansion.
