Eight seek to fill Sugar Grove board vacancy

Sugar Grove President Sean Michels said he has settled on a replacement for the late Trustee Bob Bohler, but isn't naming the person until he notifies them.

Eight people applied for the vacancy.

• Suzanne Fahnestock, director of elections for Kane County. She was a Maple Park trustee from 2009 to 2013. She has lived in Sugar Grove one year.

• Ted A. Koch, a 10-year resident who currently is on the village's police pension board. He is a business banker.

• John "Andy" Doyle, a retiree who was a finance director for Geneva, an accountant and a school bus driver. He has lived in Sugar Grove 12 years.

• Carol Jolley, an insurance claims worker and one-year resident.

• Halle Cox. Cox is the Kane County Law Library and Legal Self-Help Center director for Kane County, and has lived in Sugar Grove two years.

• Gayle Deja-Schultz. Deja-Schultz ran for the board in 2013. She has lived in the village for eight years, and is director of development and special events for the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.

• Nichole Lamela, a 10-year resident who is deputy director of the Tri-Com emergency-services dispatch center.

• Karen McCannon, who has lived in the village 59 years. She worked in accounting, and also runs JoJo Clown Ministry.

The appointee will serve through April 2017.

Michels selects the replacement, but his choice must be approved by the village board. Michels said Monday he hasn't scheduled that vote, and that he will be absent from next week's village board meeting.
