More than 75 Career Seekers attend TMA Career Fair

(Schaumburg)- The Technology & Manufacturing Association of Illinois (TMA) recently hosted its annual career fair. More than 75 career seekers met with 25 TMA member companies at TMA's new headquarters in Schaumburg. Most of the potential applicants were pre-qualified candidates seeking positions in the areas of production, quality control, engineering, tool & die, maintenance and logistics. Mark Carlson, 48, of Glendale Heights is seeking work as a tool & die maker. "I think the event was very worthwhile. I was able to meet face to face with 11 companies and actually scheduled a follow up interview with one of them, " he stated.

Curt Snyder, VP of Aerospace and Machining for TMA member Atlas Tool Works, Inc. was pleased with the amount of candidates that attended. "We are looking for people for Press Brake Setup, CNC Setup and one good tool & die maker," said Snyder. "It's a great member benefit that TMA provides, giving companies access to qualified job seekers." Candidates came from throughout the Chicago region including several from Bethel New Life and the Safer Foundation as part of World Business Chicago's 1000 jobs campaign.

"The quality of the candidates is great," stated Greg Sweigert of TMA member Raco Industrial Corp. "The synergy here is impressive with TMA bringing together manufacturers, educators and potential employees all under one roof." Peter DeHoyos, 59, of Streamwood is looking for a position as a product supervisor. He was able to present his resume to five companies. "I think the fair was helpful to me. I got lots of leads and suggestions on where to go to get what I need," he remarked.

About TMA: 8 small manufacturing companies who thought they could better themselves by associating with one another founded TMA in 1925. Through the years, members established programs and services that would help their businesses grow and prosper, train their employees, and provide medical and retirement benefits. As a result of these efforts, TMA has grown into an almost 1,000 member not-for-profit organization representing more than 30,000 employees of precision manufacturing and supplier companies throughout Illinois.
