We spent one hour - no more, no less - roaming around Carol Stream photographing things that caught our eye.

The obvious and the obscure, big stuff and small. But all identifiable to Carol Stream.

A lot of Carol Stream residents probably don't know it, but the village spent roughly two years fighting plans to build the U.S. Postal Sorting Facility on 64 acres at Fullerton Avenue and Schmale Road. Carol Stream's village hall was named the Gregory J. Bielawski Municipal Center in honor of a former longtime village manager. The village was incorporated on Jan. 5, 1959, and is named for the daughter - Carol - of developer Jay Stream. Courtesy of Cindy Smith

Carol Stream Park District's Fountain View Recreation Center opened in September 2013 near Gary Avenue and Lies Road and features a 25-yard lap pool, 7,500-square-foot fitness center, indoor running track and much more. Courtesy of Cindy Smith
