Driver dies in single-vehicle crash on Fox Lake Road in Lakemoor

Lakemoor police say a man died early today in a single-vehicle crash on Fox Lake Road.

Fernando Suarez III, 23, was killed after the 2012 Toyota he was driving shortly after midnight left southbound Fox Lake Road for an unknown reason, rolled over several times and came to rest on its roof in a ditch line, according to Police Chief Dave Godlewski.

Suarez was ejected from the badly damaged Toyota and was found by officers in the northbound lane of Fox Lake Road north of Volo Village Road, police said. Suarez was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was in the vehicle with Suarez, authorities said. Suarez's hometown was not immediately available.

Police and Wauconda Fire Protection District crews were summoned to the crash scene at 12:07 a.m. Friday. Fox Lake Road is between Volo Village Road and Route 12.

Lakemoor police said they were investigating the possible contributing factors in the single-car wreck, with help from the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
