Elgin parolee gets 11 years for three robberies in 2014
A 53-year-old parolee was sentenced to 11 years in prison after admitting to three robberies at Elgin stores in 2014, according to Kane County court records.
Michael L. Taylor, of the 300 block of North Crystal Street, Elgin, pleaded guilty last week to three robberies at Aldi on Randall Road and the Family Dollar store, 611 Dundee Ave., both in Elgin, records show.
Taylor, who was on parole at the time after a January 2014 prison release, implied he had a weapon during each of the robberies. No one was injured.
The Family Dollar robberies occurred June 3 and Aug. 2 and netted $300; $818.02 was stolen from a clerk at Aldi, 215 S. Randall Road, on Aug. 13, records show.
Taylor must pay $200 in fines under the plea agreement approved by Kane County Judge John Barsanti, records show.
Taylor also gets credit for more than nine months in custody at the Kane County jail on $1.5 million bail while the cases were pending.
Taylor, who has nine previous felony convictions, was on parole from a 2009 aggravated robbery charge out of Sangamon County, records show.
