Teen injured in alcohol-related crash, Elk Grove police say

A 17-year-old driver was injured Sunday night when he struck a tree while under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The crash happened around 11:12 p.m. at Cypress Lane and Reverend Morrison Boulevard, according to Elk Grove Village police.

The teen suffered injuries that were serious but not life-threatening. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

He was the only person in the car, a 1998 Lincoln Continental.

He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His name was not released because he is a juvenile.

The crash remains under investigation.
