Boomers rally for victory

The host Schaumburg Boomers salvaged the series finale with the Lake Erie Crushers by rallying for a 5-4 walk-off victory in Frontier League action Sunday night.

Craig Massey delivered the game-winning 2-run single through the right side of a drawn-in infield.

The Boomers (6-4) fell behind 4-1 before chipping away with runs in the sixth and eighth on RBI from Ryan Tuntland. Jordan Dean had a pair of hits to run his hitting streak to eight games. Tillman Pugh and Massey also picked up 2 hits, Michael Valadez doubled in the fifth - his 200th hit with the Boomers.

Making his second start, Brett Mabry worked 5 innings with 4 strikeouts. Zach Wendorf threw 2 perfect innings before . Clark Labitan earned the win with 2 scoreless relief innings.

The Boomers host the Normal CornBelters on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., sending Arlington Heights native Scott Plaza (1-0, 1.23 ERA) against Chris Carmain (1-0, 1.29).
