28th annual Prairie Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday

Art, music, food and more combine to please the senses at Schaumburg's Prairie Arts Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24.

The festival, in its 28th year, offers a relaxed outdoor setting on the grounds of the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, where families can enjoy original works by 120 artists and live music on stages placed throughout the grounds.

The juried show will award cash prizes to artists winning Best of Show, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place, along with eight Merit Awards.

Families with children can stop by the arts and crafts activity tent sponsored by the Schaumburg Park District.

Food trucks will offer a variety of options. And the Prairie Plein Air Competition and Show, featuring works painted in the last month depicting Schaumburg landscapes and landmarks, is on display in the lobby of the Prairie Center for the Arts (located on the grounds).

Admission and parking are free. The festival is held rain or shine. Information is at (847) 895-3600, or www.prairiecenter.org. The festival is sponsored by the village.
