Teen shot in Elgin

A 15-year-old boy suffered nonlife threatening injuries after being shot Wednesday evening in Elgin, police said.

Police responded to a report of shots fired about 9:26 p.m. in the 600 block of Keep Avenue and found "evidence of shots fired," Deputy Chief Bill Wolf said. No residences were hit, he said.

A short time later, the boy was found in a different location and was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital.

Detectives from the gang crimes unit are investigating. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the unit at (847) 289-2507.
