Buffalo Grove honors coloring contest winners

Buffalo Grove Police Sgt. Michael Rodriguez presented awards at Monday's village board meeting to winners of the department's annual coloring contest.

May is Bicycle Safety Awareness Month, he said, explaining that one of the ways the department promotes wearing helmets is through the coloring contest. The contest is for children in kindergarten through third grade who color a bicycle safety picture.

Awards went to Regina Garcia, a third grader from Tripp Elementary School, Kate Baird, a second grader from St. Mary Elementary School, Silvana Alonza, a first grader from Kilmer Elementary School, and Ira Sidhani, a student in kindergarten at St. Mary Elementary School.

Winners get a gift card from the Buffalo Grove Bank and Trust and their entries are posted in the police department lobby.
