Dist. 62 employee wins honor from Apple

Jason Hanrahan, library media specialist at Plainfield School in Des Plaines, was recently named a member of the 2015 Class of Apple Distinguished Educators.

"My first iPad sparked a passion that still burns - a deep desire to learn. My excitement over what was now possible led me down the rabbit hole of discovery," he wrote in his application.

He made it part of his personal quest to bring more technology into the school by writing grants and Title III federal funding applications. He leads professional development for Des Plaines Elementary District 62, helping other teachers bring more learning tools into their classroom. He also developed an app for his classroom.

He will represent District 62 at the Apple Distinguished Educator Institute in July in Miami.

Apple began the program in 1994. "Today it has grown into a worldwide community of over 2,000 visionary educators and innovative leaders who are doing amazing things with Apple technology in and out of the classroom," Apple said in a news release.
