Bloomingdale Library completes renvoation

Bloomingdale Public Library has just completed an interior renovation that includes a New Materials Area, a renovated teen area, and new circulation and reference desks at its location at 101 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale.

The New Materials Area includes face-out shelving that displays the most in-demand and current materials. The new reference desk allows staff to work with patrons more easily, while the circulation desk was redesigned for radio-frequency identification implementation coming later this year.

The teen area was modernized to include teen-themed seating and a flat screen display for use with gaming systems and tablets.

"Our goals include increasing circulation by highlighting our most in-demand materials in a prominent spot and also getting the circulation desk ready for RFID implementation, which will dramatically speed up the time for checking out materials," library Director Tim Jarzemsky said.

"We are also happy that we can finally provide an area for young adults that has the latest technology and comfortable surroundings."
