Boomers split doubleheader

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Schaumburg Boomers split a doubleheader with the Washington Wild Things on Sunday.

The Boomers used a late rally to win the opener 7-6 in eight innings. Ryan Tuntland's first hit of the season scored Jordan Dean with the tying run. The go-ahead run scored on an error in the eighth and Mike Schulze added an RBI single. Tillman Pugh had a home run.

The Boomers fell 2-0 in the nightcap, getting only 3 hits.

The Boomers' Alexi Colon was not retired in the doubleheader, reaching base seven times with 3 hits and 4 walks.

The Boomers (3-1) continue a seven-game roadtrip to start the season Tuesday at the Windy City ThunderBolts when they send right-hander Brett Mabry against lefty Danny Jimenez, who pitched for Schaumburg in 2013 and 2014.
