Des Plaines police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run crash
Des Plaines police are asking for help in the search for a driver that fatally struck a 31-year-old woman in a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday.
Vanessa Colon, who lived in Des Plaines, was found dead on the north side of Central Road east of River Road. A driver on Central called police just before 4 a.m. Wednesday to report that he saw the woman's body on the side of the road.
Police said it's apparent she was walking east on Central when she was hit by the unknown vehicle, also traveling east on Central. Police said there's no additional information on the vehicle or the driver that struck her.
