Glenbard North wins in DVC
Glenbard North defeated Naperville Central 10-2 in baseball action Wednesday.
The Panthers (17-9, 11-5) scored 5 runs in the third inning to maintain their one-game lead atop the DuPage Valley Conference standings. Nolan Jasinski, who went 3-for-4, and Nick Barrett drove in 2 runs. Eric Orze struck out seven over 6 innings while improving to 8-0. Billy Oliver had a hit and drove in the lone run for Naperville Central (14-12, 8-8).
Neuqua Valley 3, Bartlett 2:
A sacrifice fly by Nolan Hicks in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Kevin Hutt with the go-ahead run for the Wildcats (20-7, 14-5) in their Upstate Eight Valley win. Alex DiFranco was the complete-game winning pitcher. Hutt, Tyler Wypiszenski and Will Drake all had 2 hits.
Naperville North 3, Lake Park 2:
After Lake Park (10-14, 5-11) tied the game with 2 runs in the top of the seventh, the Huskies (13-13, 10-6) won the DuPage Valley Conference game in the bottom of the seventh on Christian Barczi's RBI single. Mark Khoury went the distance on the mound. Colin Fowich went 2-for-3 for the Lancers.
Wheaton North 12, WW South 2:
The Falcons (9-18, 5-11) scored 7 runs in the top of the seventh to break open the DuPage Valley Conference victory. Casey Becker, who went 4-for-5, and Jason Szumski drove in 2 runs while Kevin Wong went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Charles Robin was the winning pitcher. Justin Kelly had 2 hits for WW South (11-16, 9-7).
Waubonsie Valley 1, Metea Valley 0:
The Warriors (22-5, 17-3) scored the game's lone run in the sixth inning and winning pitcher Jason Neville made it hold up in a 3-hitter with 5 strikeouts. Nick Price singled home Nick Santoro for Waubonsie Valley. Metea Valley fell to 17-9 overall and 11-8 in the Upstate Eight Valley.
Addison Trail 7, Proviso East 0:
The Blazers (11-16, 8-9) cruised in the West Suburban Gold game to win for the sixth straight time. Angelo Feola and Cosme Garcia had 2 hits apiece. Winning pitcher Joey Zucchero allowed only 1 hit over 5 innings.
Glenbard South 9, Guerin 0:
Kyle Carli and Michael Ashe had 2 RBI for the Raiders (17-8, 10-6). Brian Ashe struck out 10 and allowed only 2 hits in 6 innings to earn the victory.
Downers South 10, Morton 1:
Danny Oriente and Max Soderlund went 3-for-4 and combined for 5 RBI for the Mustangs (22-3, 15-0), who swept in the West Suburban Gold. Ryan Taylor added 2 RBI in support of winning pitcher Zach Jones.
