Island Lake celebrates former clerk's 100th birthday
Island Lake officials will celebrate former Village Clerk Faye Nelson's 100th birthday Thursday night at village hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave.
Mayor Charles Amrich will issue a proclamation declaring May 20 as Faye Nelson Day in the village during the event, set for 7 p.m. and open to the public.
Nelson has lived in the village for more 70 years. She is an active member of the Island Lake Senior club and recently passed her annual behind-the-wheel driver's test.
