ESHOF to hold Elgin sports program Wednesday

The Elgin Sports Hall of Fame Foundation and Elgin Historical Society are sponsoring "Sports in Elgin: The 1950s and 1960s" at Gail Borden Library Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The program will feature former athletes and coaches from Elgin including Glen Lose (Elgin High 1953 basketball and baseball standout), Kerry Sund (Elgin High 1970 basketball and also a high school varsity basketball coach), Ray Haley (Larkin High) first football and baseball coach at Larkin, later athletic director for over 20 years, Alan Lettow (Larkin High 1967 three sport varsity athlete), John Paul (St. Edward High 1953 basketball standout) and Betty Ostdick Villella (St. Edward 1953 champion speedskater.

Stories and memories of Elgin sports during the 1950s and 1960s will be shared and audience participation shall be encouraged. Memorabilia of the period will also be on display.
