Rustle up prizes, safety tips at Bike Rodeo

Display your top pedal pushing skills at the Schaumburg Park District's Bike Rodeo, featuring games, relay races and other activities.

Open to children ages 4 to 7, the Bike Rodeo is from 5:30 to 7 p.m., May 20 at Ken Alley Safety Park, 421 N. Springinsguth Road.

"It may be the first time your child is dusting off his or her bike from the winter months. What better way than the Bike Rodeo to show off your skills?" said Kathleen Benson, Bock Center manager and general program supervisor.

Young cyclists will learn about bike safety and maintenance from the Schaumburg Police Department, Alexian Brothers Health System and Bike Connection in Schaumburg. Participants also have the chance to win prizes and enjoy ice cream treats.

"Accidents can happen at any age and at any time on your bike," Benson said. "It's important to learn the smart ways to ride your bike at an early age."

Cost is $7 for residents and $10 for non-residents.

Early registration is highly recommended. For more information, call (847) 985-2141 or visit www.parkfun.com.
