Rauner isn't source of Illinois' woes

Rauner isn't source of Illinois' woes

On April 19, Mr. Prescott decided to tell us all of the ills from Bruce Rauner becoming governor. I guess he has forgotten that the Democrats have ruined this state for the last 30 years.

Their overestimating revenue, their continuous spending habits, not putting money where it belonged, i.e. $2.2 billion earmarked for the pension system in 2005 taken and used for their own pork barrel projects. Why should my tax dollars go to HIV support or to help with the cessation of smoking? These people lived a lifestyle they knew were detrimental to their health.

Gov. Rauner has been in office about four months, Cullerton and Madigan have been in office for close to 30 years. Who has been the driving force of our fiscal problems? It sure hasn't been Gov. Rauner. The Democrats haven't given this state a balanced budget in over a decade. No, these aren't budget cuts; these are consequences of the free spending the Democrats in general and Cullerton and Madigan in particular have foisted on this state. Because of them we no longer have a middle class in Illinois.

I agree with you and hope people get off their couch and vote Cullerton and Madigan and their minions out of office. Then we might have a legislature that works for the people instead of just for themselves. Some people should get their heads out of the Democrats' trough and stop swallowing the slop they're being fed.
