School: Des Plaines boy shot in face expected to recover

Counselors will at schools in Des Plaines Elementary School District 62 today to help students cope with the weekend shooting of a former classmate, district officials announced Sunday. In a letter sent to parents and guardians of district students, officials confirm that the 13-year-old shooting victim was a student at Chippewa Middle School through December. The letter said the boy remains in intensive care at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge but is expected to recover. Full story.
