4 hurt in Des Plaines crash

Four people were seriously injured in a crash Monday afternoon in Des Plaines that required firefighters to extricate three people, fire officials said.

The crash happened at about 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Golf Road and College Drive near Oakton Community College, Des Plaines Battalion Chief Bob Ward said.

"We transported the four, and I don't know the conditions," Ward said. "I know they're serious."

The crash involved an SUV and another car. Three people had to be extricated. Of the injured, two were taken to Lutheran General, one to Glenbrook and another to Northwest Community Hospital.

Golf Road remained closed for some time while police continued to investigate. It wasn't immediately clear in which direction each of the vehicles were traveling, Ward said.

"They're still trying to put it all together," Ward said.
