Police, firefighters to respond to mock crime scene, search and rescue at Harper College

What will seem like a full-blown emergency will bring a sizable police presence to Harper College on Saturday.

It's all a mock drill for the benefit of Harper students studying law enforcement and fire science, among other disciplines.

Curious members of the public and people interested in public safety careers are invited to watch the two scenarios starting at 9 a.m.: a simulated crime scene at the college's Career and Technical Center, Building H, Room H144; and a water rescue at the pond on the northeast side of campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road.

Students will play the roles in each exercise under the guidance of faculty, putting what they've learned in class into practice.

Police and firefighters from Palatine, as well as divers from the Hoffman Estates Fire Department will participate.
