Tribute concert in Gurnee

FullScore Chamber Orchestra will present its annual tribute to former principal trumpeter Mark Rymer on Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 Hunt Club Road, Gurnee. Tickets are $15 presold, $18 at the door, children 12 and under are free, and the orchestra's website has PayPal usage. this year's program includes Haydn's "Trumpet Concerto" and Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." Both works show off the trumpet in a myriad ways and celebrate its place in orchestral repertoire. Also onstage will be The Mark Rymer Jazz Ensemble, a premiere big band made up of colleagues of Rymer from his days at Northern Illinois University as a classical and jazz performer.
