Schaumburg teen charged with home invasion
A Schaumburg teen was ordered held on $85,000 bail Tuesday on charges of home invasion stemming from a weekend altercation.
Allen Nieves, 18, and his girlfriend attended a party Saturday where a 19-year-old man directed an inappropriate comment at Nieves' girlfriend, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Alyssa Grissom.
On Sunday afternoon Nieves, his girlfriend, his girlfriend's sister and another man drove to the 19-year-old man's home, where Nieves banged several times on the door, Grissom said.
Nieves is accused of entering the home uninvited and lunging at the 19-year-old, Grissom said. The men fought, and Nieves struck the man several times, she said.
The man with Nieves also struck the 19-year-old and kicked him in the face, Grissom said. After a neighbor threatened to call the police, Nieves and his friends left, Grissom said.
The man later identified Nieves as his attacker, she said. Nieves is charged with home invasion, a class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Police are seeking his companion, Grissom said.
Nieves next appears in court on May 19.
