A house fire in Streamwood Monday caused about $100,000 worth of damage, officials said.

The Streamwood Fire Department was called just after noon about a fire in the attached garage of a home on the 100 block of Hastings Mill Road, according to a news release.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the garage door and into the second floor of the single family home, the release said.

One resident was home at the time of the fire but was able to get out safely before fire crews arrived, the release said. No one was injured.

Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park and Bartlett assisted Streamwood firefighters.

The fire did extensive damage to the garage and some structural damage to the second floor of the home, leading officials to estimate damages at $100,000.

Officials said the fire appeared to have originated in the garage, but they have not yet determined a specific cause.
