Prince of Peace UMC Joins Reconciling Ministries Network

After a year of prayerful study, examining scripture, tradition, reason and experience - the four tools United Methodists use when seeking to be faithful followers of Jesus - congregants of Prince of Peace United Methodist Church, 1400 Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village, voted overwhelmingly March 22nd to join a network of 668 United Methodist churches and campus ministries in welcoming the full participation of all persons, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, into the life and mission of the church.

"Jesus said nothing about homosexuality," said Prince of Peace Pastor Cerna Castro Rand, "but he did teach us to love one another, and to practice radical hospitality." Betsy Boswell and Marci Evans, two members of the task force that led the church through the reconciling process agreed, stating: "We want everyone to know that our congregation truly welcomes all, including our LGBTQ friends, into full participation in the church. We believe our welcoming statement: 'Believing in God's inclusive love, we welcome all into full participation in the congregation, regardless of age, ability, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith background, family configuration, or socioeconomic status', accomplishes that."

Seeking to be fully in ministry to all, Prince of Peace UMC welcomes visitors to Sunday worship at 9am (contemporary) and 10:30 am (traditional). Please contact Pastor Castro Rand at cerna@popumc.com or 847-439-0668.
