Kristen Gierman new EGHS head girls golf coach

Elk Grove High School this week named Kristen Gierman, current social studies teacher and assistant basketball and soccer coach, as the school's new head girls golf coach.

Gierman brings significant playing and coaching experience to the team. The former Hersey golf standout and University of Illinois soccer captain is excited to take over the reigns this year.

"I am very thankful and excited for the opportunity to continue the success of the Elk Grove girls' golf program started by Jon Rowley," Gierman said. "I look forward to the chance to build upon the foundation of hard work and commitment already in place that will serve the girls on the golf course and throughout the rest of their lives."

Gierman has already established herself as an outstanding teacher and a passionate coach at Elk Grove.

"Ms. Gierman has built an incredible athletic resume and has worked with some of the finest coaches in the nation during her athletic career," said Elk Grove Principal Paul Kelly. "She is precisely the type of outstanding role model we always seek for our athletes at EGHS."

Terry Beyna, Elk Grove girls athletic director, is thrilled about the excitement Gierman has already brought to the athletic department.

"Kristen Gierman is bringing a wealth of athletic leadership and accomplishments to our Girls Golf program. We are excited about the direction she has planned to take this program."

Though the golf season is four months away, Gierman is already planning ahead.

"With a core of experienced golfers returning next season, we will strive to compete at the conference level and beyond," Gierman said. "This season, we will focus on integrity and excellence in all we do to ensure the continued success of the girls and the program."
