Wood Dale standoff ends peacefully

A burglary suspect barricaded himself in a Wood Dale home Friday, but the situation was resolved peacefully, officials said.

Wood Dale police had been investigating a series of residential burglaries, authorities said, and they were able to capture two of three suspects. Police said they learned the third suspect, who was believed to have a handgun taken in one of the burglaries, was at a home on the 400 block of Maple Street.

When officers arrived at the home, the suspect initially refused to speak to police; the DuPage County Felony Investigative Assistance Team SWAT unit, however, was able to make contact with him, Wood Dale police said.

Formal charges are pending, according to police, and the case is under investigation.
