Trial set for former Gavin teacher

The trial for one of three former Gavin Elementary District 37 teachers facing misdemeanor charges for not reporting the alleged sexual assault of a student is scheduled for June 19. Michael Lanners, 38, of Lake Villa, was charged in November for not reporting the information as required by law. April Courtney, 34, of Wauconda, John Keehan, 40, of Elgin, and Lanners are former teachers at Gavin with Michael Vucic, 41, of Lake Forest. Vucic is in Lake County jail on charges he sexually assaulted two students at Gavin South Middle School. Lanners, Courtney and Keehan are free from jail after posting the required 10 percent of their $5,000 bail. Courtney is due back in court June 19 for a status hearing. Keehan is due to appear in Lake County court April 27. Vucic is due in court May 8.
