Wheaton run provides colorful fun to participants

They arrived in white.

When they left, their world was a little brighter.

The hundreds of runners who came out to the second annual Fun Run in Color in Wheaton Saturday were all smiles as their attire took on a new rainbow look.

The course snaked along streets in the downtown area and through Northside Park before ending in Memorial Park, where a final color throw and post-run festivities took place.

Volunteers at four stations along the route threw buckets of colored cornstarch on the runners as they passed, leaving blotches of color on their skin and clothing.

The run, which was un-timed and open to avid runners and families, was hosted by the Rotary Club of Central DuPage and the Wheaton Park District.

Dave Valentino of First Trust Portfolios, a sponsor for the run, threw color at the last station before the finish line.

"It was great throwing the colors on people. It was really exciting to see people finish strong. You get to motivate people who are all running for a good cause. It's been a lot of fun," Valentino said.
