Local roads part of Cook County's $38 million summer construction program
Cook County is set to launch a $38 million spring and summer road construction program that will include pavement resurfacing, bridge repair and roadway rehabilitation in several Northwest suburban communities.
Among the projects included in the program is rehabilitation of the concrete pavement along Hintz Road, from Elmhurst Road to Milwaukee Avenue, as well as repairs to the bridge over Ecko Lake, in Wheeling.
Other planned work includes replacement of the Roselle Road bridge deck over the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90), along with traffic signal improvements; and pavement preservation and rehabilitation work on Busse Road, from Golf Road to Lonquist Boulevard, in Mount Prospect, and on Otis Road, from Brinker Road to Dundee Road, in Barrington Hills.
In all, the program calls for roadwork in 28 Cook County communities, officials said.
"Our road program this year addresses both completion of ongoing major projects and bringing roads and bridges throughout the county up to standard," Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said in a news release. "We have also specifically targeted projects in some areas that contribute directly to job retention and economic development, a key goal for our administration."
