Upset in South Barrington, incumbents win elsewhere

Patel upsets in S. Barrington:

Dr. Hina Patel, a newcomer to politics, was the top vote-getter Tuesday for the village board race in South Barrington. Patel got 234 votes, or 28.96 percent, with all four precincts reporting. In her wake are trustees Stephen Guranovich and Louis Matuska Jr., who appear to have won re-election with 202 votes and 187 votes, respectively. Incumbent trustee Bernard Kerman appears to have come in fourth by only two votes - 185, according to the Cook County clerk's website.

Incumbents in N. Barrington:

With all six precincts reporting, three incumbents - Pete Boland, Janice Sauer and Lawrence Weiner - Tuesday won over former trustee John Schnure for the three vacant seats on the North Barrington village of trustees. Of the six candidates vying for the three open seats on the Lake Barrington village board, incumbents Andrew Burke, John Schaller and James C.
