Three Brothers Theatre in Waukegan to adapt 'The Lost World'

Three Brothers Theatre in Waukegan is hitting the stage with an original adaptation of "The Lost World" on Fridays and Saturdays, April 10 through April 25, at 8 p.m.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic adventure novel follows the story of Edward Malone, Professor Challenger, Professor Summerlee, and Lord Roxton through the Amazon at the turn of the century. As an unlikely team, they adventure through the South American rain forest looking for clues deep in the jungle.

The clues lead them to long lost dinosaurs. Unfortunately, the dinosaurs aren't the only things in this hidden valley and they find themselves trapped and looking to find refuge somewhere in an unfamiliar land.

Three Brothers Theatre is producing "The Lost World" in hopes of starting a tradition of bringing classic books to the live stage. This adaptation was written by artistic director Caroline Beadle and Three Brothers founding member Rick Adams.

"We're thrilled to bring 'The Lost World' to our stage," Beadle said. "Rick is a huge dinosaur fan and this is one of his favorite books. During our research we found that as far as we could tell no one had ever produced a staged version. So we immediately said why not us? We love to try new things."

Adams and Beadle also are directing the piece.

Adams will also star as Edward Malone, along with an amazing cast of local actors including James Behr, Peter Nerand, David Motley, Emily Robinson, Michael Steen, Joe Raasch, Paul Raasch, Anna Pable, Ben Pable, Hayden Rytting, Maisy Woods, Zarai Ocampo, Natsha Siri, Ron Paul and Darreyl Atkins.

Three Brothers Theatre is at 115 Genesee St., Waukegan. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Call (708) 548-0283 for tickets.
