Kids visit Batavia businesses on Easter egg hunt
Downtown Batavia was the place to be Saturday morning for kids looking for Easter eggs and more.
The second annual Downtown Batavia Easter Egg Hop, hosted by Batavia MainStreet and River City Church, allowed kids to hop around downtown to find eggs and win raffle prizes and gift certificates donated by downtown businesses.
Kids could visit participating businesses to collect eggs and bring them back to the Peg Bond Center for a chance to win raffle prizes, then enjoy face painting, balloon animals, games and activities.
During the hop, students from the Batavia Academy of Dance taught kids of all ages the Bunny Hop dance in the Peg Bond Center pavilion. There was also an egg hunt for kids 3 and younger, where parents helped scoop plastic eggs into their baskets.
Jen and David Broadwater of Aurora brought their daughters Lucy, 5, and Elaina, 7, because they enjoyed the event last year. David said it's "a lot of fun, kids like it, and it's nice to walk around, too."
Kimberly and Julius Moore brought their daughter Olivia, 6, who was wearing a bright pink coat and bunny ears for the occasion. The family recently moved to North Aurora from Arkansas, and Kimberly said they had never seen anything like it before.
