Vote for trustees who care about taxpayers

Trustees Paul Hoefert and Richard Rogers have shown their concern for the taxpayers of this village with their votes last November during the annual budget discussions.

These two trustees were instrumental in persuading other trustees to vote for a 2.480 percent increase, even though the original recommendation by Finance Director Erb was for 4.420 percent. Trustee Hoefert even suggested a 1 percent increase was sufficient to meet the needs of the village but was outvoted.

These two trustees have my strong support and vote come April 7th. Trustee Korn however, was adamant about keeping the original 4.48 levy, but later reluctantly joined the other trustees and voted for the 2.48 increase. Trustee Korn seems to have the best interests of the village employees in mind, but not us, the taxpayers of Mount Prospect.

The past annual increases of over 4 percent are not sustainable by seniors and others on fixed incomes. Many have been forced to sell their homes and others found themselves foreclosed because they could no longer afford the tax burden.

Trustee Korn, with all due respect, does NOT seem to understand the desperate situation that his generous tax increases are causing the taxpayers of this wonderful village. His lack of support for us is why I can no longer support him during the upcoming April 7th election.

I hope other dissatisfied voters will join me and NOT vote for trustee Korn.

Candidate Colleen Saccotelli has shown a genuine interest in the way the village is being managed by attending regular board meetings as well as "Coffee with the Councils." None of the other challengers have even bothered to present themselves at those meetings. Why such lack of interest?

So in conclusion, my vote will be cast for Hoefert, Rogers and Saccotelli. I hope those will be your choices as well.
