Gurnee traffic safety results:

Gurnee police have announced results from a traffic safety crackdown that coincided with St. Patrick's Day festivities. Authorities said the enforcement period ran from March 13 through 22, with an emphasis on impaired driving and seat belt enforcement activities throughout the village. Police said two drug and/or alcohol arrests were made from 30 vehicles that were stopped. There also were two speeding and eight seat belt citations issued. The effort was funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Six officers worked the detail from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
