Letter to Iran had solid basis

Patt Heise of Palatine stated that it is unprecedented that the GOP wrote a letter to Iran concerning their nuclear program. I must agree with him. It may be possible that never before has the Congress by letter explained to that medieval utopia that we are a constitutional republic.

After that, Heise's letter does not make any sense. It states that the GOP shows a "level of disrespect for the president that goes beyond imagination." What about John Kerry and Tom Harkin with the communist David Ortega? Or how about Baghdad Jim McDermott and Baghdad David Bonior? Look it up.

You may also be interested in looking at the United States Constitution Article ll, Section 2, concerning treaties. Oh! You say this is not a treaty. That's what Obama wants you to think. That's why Kerry and Obama with the help of the media call it an agreement, an alliance, and give it a half dozen other titles and avoid the word treaty - because a treaty must be approved by the U.S. Senate.

No matter what they call it, it is a treaty and must be Approved by the U.S. Senate. Don't believe me; look it up. Treaty. an agreement between states. In this case, states means countries.

Obama tried the same scam by not calling the UN's Law of the Sea Treaty a treaty but that didn't work either.

One additional statement in the published letter says the GOP letter "sends a very strong message to our enemies and allies alike that our country is broken and weak." I disagree. Obama letting a country that supports terrorist around the world have a nuclear weapon shows us as a country that is broken and weak.

We have been broken and weak for other reasons as well since Jan 20, 2009.
