Poster contest seeks design that best represents Barrington

To help celebrate Barrington's 150th anniversary at this year's Barrington Art Fest, organizers are putting on a contest challenging local artists of all ages to design a poster that best represents Barrington.

"We have no idea what we're going to get," Amy Amdur, an art fest organizer, said. "We didn't want there to have to be requirements, so we could give people maximum creativity."

Three winning designs, one from each of the three age categories, will be selected but just one will be used as a commemorative poster that will be sold at the Barrington Art Festival. Amdur said they are in talks with local banks about awarding a savings bond to the winner as an additional prize.

All poster submissions will be displayed at the Barrington Art Fest on Memorial Day Weekend.

"You'll be able to see everyone's ideas," Abdur said. "Altogether, it is going to be a great expression of what makes Barrington special for its 150th anniversary."

Amdur said anyone who loves Barrington is eligible to submit their poster design. To enter, follow the instructions at amdurproductions.com.

The Barrington Art Fest will be on May 23 and 24.
