Arlington Heights man admits robbing 87-year-old woman

An Arlington Heights man charged with stealing $1,000 from an 87-year-old woman last June pleaded guilty to residential burglary and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Stanley Miller, who has multiple convictions for theft, burglary and home repair fraud, was also ordered to pay $694 in fines during his sentencing hearing Wednesday, according to court records.

Miller, 33, offered to repair the leaky roof of the woman's Rolling Meadows home for $100, prosecutors said during Miller's bond hearing. As the woman retreated into her house for the money, Miller pushed in the locked screen, entered the home and took $1,000, prosecutors said.

Miller fled in a vehicle that police traced to his wife. The victim identified Miller in a photo lineup.

Miller received credit for 175 days in custody.
