Gurnee with special police patrols

Gurnee police plan to start a special traffic enforcement crackdown Thursday. Officials said it'll be part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign by conducting special patrols coinciding with the St. Patrick's Day period to curtail impaired drivers and late-night safety belt law violators. "With spring approaching comes the St. Patrick's Day holiday," Police Chief Kevin Woodside said. "Please celebrate responsibly, because impaired driving can bring deadly consequences." Running through March 22, the crackdown will have police officers working overtime to cover the special patrols.
