Algonquin woman pleads not guilty to shooting at television
An Algonquin woman accused of shooting at a television because of the time her children spent watching it pleaded not guilty Monday, officials said.
Jennifer Ullery, 40, was charged in February with reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm without a FOID card and three counts of endangering the health and safety of a child.
Officers were called to a home on the 3000 block of Talaga Drive at the request of the Department of Children and Family Services to investigate a report of a rifle fired inside the home, according to Algonquin police.
The report came in to police days after the January incident occurred, according to a news release.
Officers said Ullery invited them inside, where they noticed the television screen shattered and found a Ruger .22 long rifle, ammunition and magazines.
Police said an investigation found that Ullery had fired the rifle at the television because of the amount of time her three children - ages 6, 11 and 15 - spend watching TV, according to a news release.
No one was injured, police said.
Ullery is scheduled to appear again in court on April 20.
