Kirkland's in Hoffman Estates to close by March 31

Kirkland's home furnishing store in Poplar Creek Crossing in Hoffman Estates is slated to close by the end of the month, the company said Tuesday.

Store employees will have the opportunity to apply at other store locations, which include Algonquin, Bloomingdale and Woodridge, the company said. Other stores in Illinois are in Rockford, Joliet, Orland Park, Fairview Heights and Carbondale.

All merchandise at the Hoffman Estates store is marked 30 percent off, according to a store employee.

A spokesman for the company did not immediately respond to questions for further comment.

Customers can continue to shop online at www.kirklands.com.

"Our website will continue to serve customers with the same great products found in stores," Michelle Graul, Kirkland's senior vice president of stores, said in a statement.

Kirkland's sells home decor and gifts at 324 stores in 35 states. Products include framed art, mirrors, wall decor, candles and related items, lamps, decorative accessories, accent furniture, textiles, garden-related accessories and artificial floral products, according to its website.

The Hoffman Estates shopping center is located at Routes 72 and 59 and also includes TJ Maxx, Ross, Michaels and other stores. It was acquired by Chicago-based Walton Street Capital LLC and Northbrook-based Pine Tree Commercial Realty last year.
