Girl Scouts with local captains invite communities to buy cookies

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois kicked off its 2015 cookie booth sale season by inviting local mayors to be Cookie Captains in their communities.

Mayors who take on the challenge promise to visit a nearby cookie booth and purchase one or more boxes of Girl Scout Cookies in support of local Girl Scouts and the positive difference they make in the community.

By interacting with the girls at a cookie booth and giving them the opportunity to practice their 5 Skills, Cookie Captains show their support for these female entrepreneurs and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Girl Scouts will continue selling cookies at area locations until Sunday, March 22. Cookie Booths are the final phase of the Girl Scout Cookie Program and allow customers to buy Girl Scout Cookies through direct sales to the public. All locations accept cash and checks payable to Girl Scouts.

Seven varieties of cookies will be on sale for only $4 a box, including the new Rah Rah Raisins cookie! Girls will also be offering Toffee-tastic, a new gluten-free cookie, at select cookie booths for $5 per box.

Fans can find nearby Girl Scout Cookie Booths with the free Cookie Finder mobile app. The highly rated app can be downloaded for free at www.girlscoutcookies.org. Customers can also input their ZIP code on the site to find the nearest cookie booth location.

If you're not approached by a Girl Scout or can't visit a local cookie booth, you can email cookies4you@girlscoutsni.org, and your cookie order will be passed on to a local Girl Scout!
