U-46 seeks input on strategic plan

Elgin Area School District U-46 will conduct a series of forums starting Monday to gather input on its long-term strategic plan developed over the past several months.

Representatives of District Management Council, a consulting firm facilitating the planning process, presented a preliminary draft of the strategic plan to the school board earlier this week.

The plan aims to guide the academic and operational direction of the district and includes the "aspirations and priorities," officials said.

It was developed through discussions among the school board and CEO, district administrators and school leaders, school-based staff members, students, volunteers and community members.

U-46 administrators will conduct several town hall-style community meetings at various district locations seeking feedback on the plan.

CEO Tony Sanders and members of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee will explain the planning process and answer questions at these meetings.

Three round table discussions also are planned to seek input from eight to 10 invited community representatives from the district's advisory councils, municipalities, unions and key stakeholders.

Each round table forum is open to the public and will include time for public comment.

The meetings schedule:

• Round table: 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Hanover Township Town Hall Downey Hall Room, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett; and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the U-46 Educational Services Center in Room 239, 355 E. Chicago St., Elgin.

• Town hall: 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at South Elgin High School's B-100 meeting room, 760 E. Main St.
